A weather station, an Ecowitt system is installed at the mill and reports data on a very regular basis. It also repeats the data to the Meteological Office via WOW and this can be found at this link [HOLD]. Given the low lying location (4.2 mtrs OCD) the area is a frost pocket in the winter but rarely has snow lying for long due to the proximity of the Cromarty Firth and sea water at ambient temperature. The sea occasionally presents ice along the fringes, most likely due to the dilution of the sea water with fresh water run off from the Newhall Burn, previously known as the Water of Gelny or Gelnie, and also the surrounding field drainage systems.
Note: the Forecast and Tidal Data api's below are at experimental stage and will be commissioned fully in due ccourse.
